• screened sandy loam topsoil blended with fine silica sand
WHAT IS IN IT? This mix is seventy percent kiln dried silica sand and thirty percent screened to 2mm topsoil; so a really fine blend, mostly sand.
WHAT IS IT FOR? This is a specialised blend usually purchased in bulk quantities for pitches and courses by green-keepers. That said, it is also great in small quantities for giving your lawn a bit of TLC before it gets colder and for re-seeding those patchy dried out bits that crop up every now and then. Ideally you want to lay this a few millimetres deep then re-seed the patchy areas. You can also hollow tine your lawn in the Autumn to aerate it and brush a fine layer of the topdressing in.
HOW MUCH DO I NEED? As a rule of thumb 1000kg of topdressing will usually cover about 75m2 (7.5m x 10m) at a depth of about 1cm but can stretch as far as 150m2; (15m x 10m) at a depth of about 0.5cm.
DON'T FORGET...To "weed, seed and feed" your lawn once a year as well as topdressing it! You can read more about dealing with weeds here!
If you order a STANDARD sized bulk bag of this product you qualify for our mix and match add-on items! You can add on gardening gloves, rakes and tools, small bags of gravel, topsoil, compost - all sorts of great stuff at super low prices!
"Lawn Top Dressing"
I ordered 40 bags of Dandy''s Top Dressing and these arrived palleted in just a few days and in very good condition. All of the bags were intact and did not split while I was moving them. The top dressing mix looked OK, if a little heavy on sand, but it should do the job I wanted it to.
